Forget what feels normal

I’m a mom who works. And from the moment I saw that first positive pregnancy test, I have been trying to figure out exactly what combination of momming and working is right for me. It’s fluid. It’s messy. It changes often and I’ll never have it figured out.

I grew up with a stay-at-home mom surrounded mostly by children of other stay-at-home moms. My Mother created the most magical life for me and my household was a happy one.

But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how much that experience influenced what I thought would be the best environment for my own kids. Not knowing very many other women who worked outside the home growing up largely influenced what I thought my own adult years would look like. The women at The Treasury taught me this:

Doing what’s been modeled for you might feel most natural. But what seems “normal” to you might not actually be what’s best for you and your family.

Exposure to different ways of life can change your own. At The Treasury, I’ve had the opportunity to see up-close the walks of all different moms, from those who don’t work outside the home at all to those who outsource most of their household duties. They’re all doing the very best they can and most importantly, they’re giving other women the opportunity to explore what’s best for them just by being transparent about their own process.

If you’re feeling stuck or frustrated, new perspectives can help. Membership is a fast-track to exposing yourself to new ideas. We’d love to have you.
