For anyone who has ever launched to crickets.
Did you start your business with a bunch of clients? Or did you launch to crickets?
The Treasury took 18 months from idea to opening our doors. That time was spent hunting for the right building, writing website copy, hammering out a business model, assembling furniture and of course having tons of conversations over coffee about the idea of this shared office community. The response was almost always: "Wow! What a great idea. That is so needed right now in Oklahoma City."
In my naivety I truly thought that customers were just an Instagram post away.
So you can imagine my surprise when I opened The Treasury with zero members.
I kept looking back at the business model thinking "How is this possible!? What was I thinking?!"
I learned the hard way that for most businesses, there's not a flood of customers just because they hear about your idea and think it's a good one.
If you're like me and you didn't launch to a line of customers eager to pay you for your service or product, I want to tell you that doesn't necessarily mean you're a failure or you're offering something people don't want.
There's some finesse in finding the right customers. For me, that meant getting out from behind my email list and my Instagram and investing in relationships with potential members. If you're frustrated by putting out content and not getting anything back, I want to encourage you to try out membership! We're all real people who want to support you, send you referrals and watch you succeed.
Membership provides all the office logistics and a killer support system. So if you're ready to join, we're ready to meet you!
